I like to keep things as natural and organic as possible in my home. I love using whole foods as part of my natural health remedies, especially when it comes to keeping our immune systems strong and healthy. So when winter hits, or continually lingers, I love making a powerful whole-foods cold remedy!
There are many things out in the world today that lower our immune system, and therefore I believe it’s essential to consume lots of what our heavenly Father created: whole, fresh, organic foods.
Some of my favourite things He created are not only excellent for us, but they also taste fantastic when put together! When it comes to things we can do to benefit our health, using whole-food natural remedies really are the best option.
One of the Best Whole Foods Natural Health Remedies

Today I’m sharing one of my absolute favourite whole-food natural health remedies. It’s super easy to make and is highly beneficial too: a garlicky, lemony, gingery, turmeric honey mix.
I’ve previously written about several of these foods because I love them that much. They’ve been proven to be incredible for us and are all so good!
This mix is so wonderful as it’s full of antibiotic properties, boosts the immune system, and has many healing properties in it, which makes it great as a whole-food cold remedy!
The 7 Wonderful Ingredients for a Whole-Foods Cold Remedy
Garlic is amazing. Simply put. Garlic is an incredible antibacterial agent and is actually touted as the world’s most powerful natural antibiotic. It has the ability to stimulate cell growth and activity as well as dissolves cholesterol in the bloodstream. This health-building herb is also known to help reduce high blood pressure, relieve diarrhea, earaches, allergies, and colds. Plus it’s really great for toothaches too!
Ginger is soothing & warm, contains antibiotic properties and helps relieve congestion. It aids with digestion & detoxification too. Garlic also helps to heal infections, inflammation, aches & pain, circulation, nausea (including pregnancy nausea) and motion sickness.
Lemons are just so lovely. They are full of so much goodness: vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and fiber. Lemons help with digestion as well as cleanse your system by stimulating your liver. Plus, they help reduce inflammation and give you an energy boost.

Raw, organic honey is full of antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to boost the immune system, is a natural energy source, can improve digestion, and diabetes. Honey can also help to relieve a sore throat & cough and is full of natural prebiotics, which helps promote good healthy bacteria growth in the intestines. Plus, it just tastes really good.
Turmeric is a powerful antibiotic and anti-inflammatory, which is what you want if you’re fighting off a cold or flu, just feeling a little low. Turmeric helps with infections, fevers, age-related brain damage, supports digestion, and helps cleanses the liver.
Black pepper helps to enhance the bioavailability of curcumin, which is an active ingredient in turmeric, by a thousand times.
Raw, organic apple cider vinegar boosts gut-health, improves digestion, fights fungus and improves circulation. It also helps soothe a sore throat, ward off seasonal allergies, aid in detoxification, and acts as a natural deodorant.

It works! Actually tastes pretty good too. I blended it in my blender for a finer consistency. Kids didn’t like it at first but it’s growing on them. An easy remedy to make and i know exactly what’s in it. Thank you, Rebecca!
